Eastercon

The British National Science Fiction Convention. Eastercon is the largest regular UK SF con, and since the 1960s has always taken place over the Easter weekend. Each Eastercon has a whimsical name, often involving a pun or fannish in-joke. Eastercon is run entirely by fans, and the committee don't make any money out of it (in fact, it generally costs them a great deal in travel and other expenses). A group of fans who wish to organise an Eastercon have to win the bid session two years prior to the Eastercon they wish to run.
